Who I am and Why I’m Here.

Who I AmVSCO Cam-1.jpg

I’m Clara. Hence the pun.

I’m a college student majoring in English literature. That means I order a lot of used books, stay up late writing about Shakespeare, and find myself looking for symbolism and motifs in my daily life. No, I’m not planning on being a teacher, yes, there are other jobs for English majors. I chose to study literature because I couldn’t choose whether to study history, psychology, sociology, or writing. A book contains all of these areas of study, and the late-night essays are worth it to me.

I’m a lover of beauty. I chose my university because its campus inspired me. I love small towns, a good book cover, tea, and old buildings. I confess to going places because I think they’d make an aesthetically pleasing instagram post.

I’m a Christian.  I believe that Jesus is who he says he is, and that he gives exactly the kind of hope that the human soul needs. I also believe that our current right vs. left society prevents us from seeing Jesus for who he is and from seeing others as “more alike than unalike” from us.

Why I’m Here

Writing is both my greatest love and my greatest fear. That means that until now, I’ve visited wordpress.com many times but decided not to sign up. But I know that I need to write more than the words I’m assigned for my English classes. I write because I believe that putting thoughts into words helps us all to understand ourselves and each other a little bit better. My hope is that through my blog, I will capture my experiences and offer fresh perspectives on the intersection of Christianity and culture. So, here’s to a new start. Thanks for joining me in the journey!
